An event-full year
From the bright lights of Times Square in New York to the prestigious Savoy hotel on the Strand in London, The TRADE has been
stepping up its game in the world of events this year.
Thanks to you - our readers and fantastic audience – we’ve been
able to host some incredible discussions across the globe. And the
second half of the year will be even more event-full.
As MiFID II continues to baffle the industry, rather than a general and broad overview of the regulation, we understand that each
aspect of the regulation deserves attention, hence why we’ve split
our sessions to target the most challenging chapters of a directive
weighty enough to rival ‘war and peace’.
So far we’ve tackled best execution, unbundling, systematic internalisers and data challenges, all on separate days. We also went on
the road to host an event alongside Thomson Reuters and Instinet in
New York, on how the rules will impact US investors.
Next up, we’ll be heading to Hong Kong for the equivalent conversation for Asian market participants, before returning to London
for one last MiFID II hurrah in October where our Checklist Event
will cover any last questions you may have prior to the January 2018
deadline. We will also be launching the second edition of our MiFID
II handbook on the day.
It’s not just regulations though, in May we teamed up with Liquidnet to present a panel discussion on Fin Tech innovation for the
buy-side in a modern and sleek venue in central London.
In the second half of the year we’ll also be holding our third annual
Rising Stars Awards, honouring the brightest up-and-coming talent
in the buy-side trading industry. If you’d like to nominate someone
please contact one of our editorial team, the winners will be invited
to a private event in London during Q4.
Our policy is there will always be as much time for networking as
there will be for panel discussions, and we will endeavour to keep it
that way as we continue to bring the buy-side community together.
At the back of this issue you’ll find the top 10 takeaways from our
events so far this year from our senior reporter Hayley McDowell, so
be sure to check that out on page 82.
To anyone who has turned up to our events this year, we thank you
for your continued support, and to those yet to attend – we’ll see you
at the next one. Keep visiting our website – thetradenews.com – for
more updates throughout the summer.
