Dale Brooksbank joined State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) in 2006, fol- lowing stints at ANZ Grindlays Bank, Bank Sarasin and Legal & General

His role subsequently developed to include foreign exchange and fixed
In his current role, Brooksbank is responsible for day-to-day trading and
execution of equities, fixed income, currency, futures and options (including
swaps), managing 12 traders across all asset platforms. This includes active
quant, fundamental equity, active emerging markets, emerging market
debt, convertibles, investment grade and high yield bonds.
He also helps produce and analyse asset class data, as well as being
involved in the analysis of execution data from venues, smart routing and
other TCA feeds.
His role includes working with internal teams to co-ordinate commen-
tary for all asset classes, tactical research for trading matters and broader
thought leadership on ‘interesting’ issues or challenges within trading.
Over the past 12 months, the economics graduate has been involved
with industry projects and innovations that improve liquidity for SSGA’s
clients, such as Project Neptune and Project Plato.
He has also been involved in preparation for Mifid II, as well as mentor-
ing and development around diversity in the finance industry.
Liaising with regulators and market participants on microstructure has
become an important development attribute for Brooksbank.
In his current role, he liaises frequently with regulators such as the
European Securities and Markets Authority, where he is a member of
their Consultative Working Group for the Secondary Markets Standing
Brooksbank is also the current chairperson of the Investment
Association’s Buy-side Trading Committee. n
