In 2003, Larry Tabb decided to build on his two decades of experience in the
financial markets by founding research
and strategic advisory firm TABB Group.
The firm was built on an interview-based research methodology of “
first-person knowledge” and assesses its clients’ customer base, competition, and
evaluates key market opportunities.
“From the time I launched Tabb
Group in 2003, the firm has remained
dedicated to providing unbiased capital
markets insight,” he says.
“We will continue to build upon our
success and knowledge with strategic
hires, exclusive events and timely mar-
ket commentary to not only maintain,
but expand the research and advisory
services our clients rely upon.”
Tabb began his career managing
fixed income operations for Citi’s North
American Investment Bank.
From there he moved to Lehman
Brothers where he managed business
analysis for the trading services division.
During his seven years at Lehman,
Tabb was responsible for overseeing
dozens of major systems. He also led
capital markets technology planning at
Lehman, developing one- and three-year technology plans.
Tabb was previously vice president
and founder of TowerGroup’s Securities
& Investments practice. n

But his career took a very different turn
when he started work with wife Sabine.
They were asked to develop trading models in 1997, leading to the creation of IFS.
For years the pair did bespoke
consultancy work for financial firms,
including helping to build databases
and develop analytics.
But, as Mifid approached IFS decided
to set up an independent service offering
– which has since become synonymous
with the company itself – Liquid Metrix.
Toulson said the firm has great penetration in Europe and it now hopes to
export its successful model into the US. n
